The World Needs More Kevin

This Week in Kevin

Happy 2018 everyone! Or the two people that I know have read this…

2017 is in the books and now I can begin anew with a new year. I made it to 12:02 on New Years. I do somewhat miss the days where I could stay up to 3-4 AM and not have a problem. That lifestyle does not work with my cats.

Dull week in sports. I did go over to Lancaster Bible College to see Juniata play basketball. Took in most of the women’s game and all of the men’s game. The women are ranked and the men’s team entered the content being ranked for the first time in program history. Considering they had a hard time winning games when I went there that is a huge achievement. Both won. The men lost on Saturday at Catholic so being ranked may not last long.

York College won both of their games this week and have climbed the rankings to #13. Both games were on the road and several hours away down in Salisbury, Maryland and Buena Vista, Virginia. I did not go to either but the win at Salisbury is huge.  York High took an ugly loss to Red Lion on Friday. They did not play much defense and Red Lion took advantage of that. Yuk.

Took a trip down to the Susquehanna River to get an up close look at the frozen river. This is not the first time I’ve seen it frozen but it doesn’t happen every year. You could hear the ice cracking. It was a balmy 8 degrees and the wind was fierce. I don’t mind the cold but that was brutal.

Went up to the Hershey Bears game on Sunday against the Charlotte Checkers. Bears win 3-0. Haven’t seen a shutout in a few years but Vitus Vanecek was on his game. On the way I hit my first brewery of the year at Boneshite Brew Works outside of Hummelstown for dinner and a beer before the game. They have some good stuff there.
