The World Needs More Kevin

This Week in Kevin

The holidays are now here. I do love me some filling which makes Thanksgiving one of my favorite holidays. The cats like the leftover turkey, they get some in their bowls for a few days afterwards. Squeaker likes ham too, you’ve never seen a cat make pathetic noises quite like he does when ham is involved. Squeaker also likes to sample nearly everything that I eat, and he has to sniff everything. He’s a funny little fellow. I had made pulled BBQ chicken on Sunday and I found out that he likes that too. I put some in sandwiches and he was at it when I went back to the kitchen to get my drink.

Not much going on this week. No sports this week as York College played a road game on Tuesday and by that point my car was already sitting waiting for service. Took the car in for what will hopefully be the last service needed for awhile on Wednesday. A new spring was needed with a brake and coolant flush as well as a new sideview mirror. Not really a cheap bill once again but nowhere near what the last one was. Used the dropoff as an excuse to visit Stony Run Brew House right down the street. Nice place and they have a beer bottle collection there so big points there from me. Not as big as mine but a good effort.

The big question after the Thanksgiving meal was if the cats would like some turkey (OK not a question there as I knew the answer) and if so how much. I’ve put it in their bowls before and there was usually been some leftover. Not this time. Squeaker turned into a bottomless pit and gobbled down (pun intended) what I gave him. He wanted so much Haka never got to get any, but then he usually turns his head at human food. He get the opportunity for some on Friday night.

And after the holiday not much was going on. The only shopping I did on Black Friday was to renew my Revolution season ticket package and the discount in the team store. I did hit Red Lion Alesmiths too for a post work beer. I’m not a Black Friday shopper, I like getting my beauty sleep and that does not seem to be what it used to be. I used some of the time at work to do some shopping online. My Christmas shopping has officially started and I’ll have it done for the most part within 2 weeks. Last of the York County breweries to visit too until Hell in a Bucket opens in Wrightsville. Don’t know when that will be, it might even be before Starview in Columbia opens and they were supposed to open last year. Well I guess there’s also MexItaly too. Haven’t been in there so I’ll have to poke my head in at some point soon. I think that can be arranged.

Saturday took me up to Harrisburg as York High scrimmaged Susquehanna Township. Lot of work to do but then there’s a lot of new players. There were some good things too. I think Susquehanna Township won the scrimmage. Lunch at Pizza Boy and then over to my Civil War book guy in Mechanichsburg. Got an autographed copy of a book from boy wonder Cooper Wingart who was there signing his books. Hit Mellow Mink for a beer and Evergrain for beer to go. I wanted to also renew my Senators season tickets but they were closed on this day. Guess I’ll have to head back up one day next week and I can hit Vegetable Hunter in Harrisburg too. I almost have the Cumberland Valley Beer Passport filled up so I can get my awesome prize. Got 15 of the 20 stops in but I’m just about out of breweries to visit though I neglected to get a sticker when I was at Cold Springs Inn. Guess I’ll have to go back, darn but that will still leave 3 more to go.

And on Sunday I ventured over to York College to watch them take on F&M to get the postponed game from a few weeks ago. It was at York which means at least I didn’t have to drive back over to Lancaster. Not that it would have mattered since I may need to venture over to Lancaster to do some Christmas shopping. And I have never been to Fetish Brewing in Lititz yet. That will be next week since I need to do some Christmas shopping over there. I assume those poor students at F&M over there have gotten over the problem, hopefully as they embarrassed themselves trying to storm the soccer field only to be foiled by a fence. Guess fences and walls do work! Or maybe it was that they just got lambasted in every news outlet that ran the story in the comments section.

Anywhoo…the first half in this one was a bit hard to watch. Poor shooting on both sides kept the score low. I’m guessing both teams are a bit out of rhythm with the holiday. York shook off the rust in the second half and while F&M kept it close for about 3/4 of the half things got ugly in the end. York finnaly had a player start hitting some threes and they got a lot of fouls down low while F&M didn’t. It was nice to see that they had an offense that did not rely on the 3 ball tonight. York wins 78-58.
