The World Needs More Kevin

This Week in Kevin

Inching closer to Christmas and I just began my Christmas shopping. Not a lot happened this week. Took in York College and Frostburg State on Wednesday night, York wins. Frostburg’s longtime coach is hanging it up at the end of the season and it looks like he’s built himself a pretty good team this year. He does a lot of recruiting in Baltimore and DC so that should be no surprise.

High school basketball season tipped off Friday night. York High beat Williamsport and Reading beat Franklin Learning Center. Reading scored 100 points, the fourth time I’ve seen a high school team hit the century mark. I was present when York High did it to the Maurice J. Moyer Academic Institute in 2015 and South Western last year and I saw McCaskey put up 101 against Moyer as well. For the record, York scored 124 the night before. Anyway, Reading beat York pretty easily for the tournament crown. Reading will be tough and York just couldn’t hang with a more disciplined and more athletic team.

Now, on to This Year in Kevin!

I enjoy getting out and visiting our national parks and there are plenty within an easy drive here in Central Pennsylvania. This years visits are: Gettysburg, Antietam, Monocacy, Manassas, Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields, Harper’s Ferry, Richmond, Kennesaw Mountain, Chickamauga, Guilford Courthouse, Cowpens, King’s Mountain, Ninety-Six, Carl Sandburg, Valley Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Other sites of interest this year include Monticello, Bennett Place, Camden Battlefield, Brandy Station Battlefield, Payne’s Farm Battlefield, Princeton Battlefield, Washington’s Crossing and Monmouth Battlefield.
