Another week in the books. Went up to Cumberland County on Saturday and hit several breweries. The first one was Desperate Times in Carlisle. This was the first time that I was ever there. It’s too bad that I don’t have any reason to ever go to Carlisle. Molly Pitcher was next and since they started bottling 12 oz. beers I needed to stop in. Molly is actually buried in the cemetery next to the brewery so I ventured over there to find it. It wasn’t hard, there’s a big monument to her next to it. There were also two generals from the American Revolution buried there as well. John Armstrong commanded the Pennsylvania Line during the Revolution and William Thompson was America’s first colonel as he was the first colonel commissioned by the Continental Army.
After that visited Pizza Boy and found that they had some limited release bottles so I picked up a few before hitting Evergrain. I came home after that.

On Sunday I went down to the Halloween Parade. I was a bit surprised it was going to go ahead but it did. No bands marched which was disappointing and it went by in probably record time. It is well that it did since it started pouring about 45 minutes after it ended. Since I live only 4 blocks from the parade route I walked and had an after parade beer or 4 at Collusion Tap Works which is on the way home. I also walked home in the pouring rain. I tried a mead for the first time ever which I found pretty good. I also have added the first bottle in my collection that says York, PA on it. It’s only taken several years since Mudhook opened for a local brewery to bottle.
And I guess on the beer bottle front my collection has now surpassed 2,800 bottles. At the rate I am going I’ll be at 3,000 before I know it. I keep it boxed up in the basement, my house isn’t that big after all and it takes up a lot of room down there but each one is a little work of art and I can remember where I got most of them.
