This was my first taste of Southern League action. I visited in 2016. I spent the day in 100+ degree weather walking the Chickamauga Battlefield so by the time I got here I was exhausted (and thirsty). I was told when I got there they were giving out a Byron Buxton bobblehead, so that was a bonus. That meant I did not go downtown to eat but stood around waiting by the park. I could have, guess bobbleheads are not as enticing as they are up North.

How did I get there?

I was coming from the Chickamauga Battlefield so I can into downtown from Rossville on Rossville Blvd. I hit a few of the breweries in town before parking in a large lot at the base of the hill that the stadium is on. There was some kind of festival going on so the lot was pretty well full but I found a spot. It cost $5 which wasn’t too bad. To get to the stadium there is an escalator that goes up the hill.

Ticket prices

This was a nice cheap evening, $8 got me in.

Finding my seat and amenities

Many of the seats are general admission. After sitting down the first baseline I decided to move out to left field. I found there was a breeze out there which made things much more comfortable. They had the usual stadium fare here and it wasn’t expensive but it wasn’t much to write home about either.

In game experience

Nothing stood out.

Getting out

I don’t know my way around Chattanooga, or ‘Nooga. I followed the signs toward the highway. There was probably a faster way but I made my way out eventually.

Wrap

I’ve heard this park may not be around much longer. It was a no-frills park but the location was not bad. Considering that I’ve been to three Southern League parks this is the worst of the three but then I’ve only been to three. The team was affiliated with the Twins at the time so I got to see some of their up and coming prospects including Stephen Gonsalves but it almost seems like the Lookouts are the red headed step child of the league constantly changing affiliates. That might change as I have heard a new stadium is in the works.
