The World Needs More Kevin

This Week in Kevin

Big week this week as it is finally time to move into the new place. First up though was bringing in 2019. I had a few expensive bottles of beer that I had purchased through the second half of the year so I opened them up on New Year’s Eve, took advantage of the Hershey Bears winning on Sunday by getting 50% off of my order from Papa John’s up the street and sat back and watched some movies. Good times and I made it to midnight, but not much longer. Like about 5 minutes after and it would have been shorter if the fireworks were not going off.

Continued to move stuff down to the new place. You know you are getting close when the beer stash gets moved. Put up some of the new bookcases that will be used for the beer bottle collection. My brother made them and they look great. Got 4 of them for the price of 1 from a big box store and they are surprisingly light. By my calculations each shelf can hold 48 bottles (12 across by 4 deep) so they can each hold a max of 336 bottles. I might need more…though there is some room on top too. Maybe I’ll put the big bottles up there.

Not much on the sports calendar until the end of the week. Northeastern came to York on Friday. The Bobcats are good but they are not the Bobcats of recent years. The first quarter was a back and forth quarter that ended with York by one. They never relinquished the lead, getting it up to double digits in the 3rd quarter. The Bobcats did not give up though and their shooting combined with poor foul shooting from York kept them in the game. York wins 69-65 and it was nice for them to finally play a close game but if they are going to be a state title contender the free throw shooting needs to improve dramatically.

Saturday was spent moving. My brother and my neighbor got the big stuff moved by 1:00. Didn’t make it over to watch York College take on Southern Virginia. The cats went down early in the morning. I got Squeaker right out of bed before he could grasp what was going on and Haka was easy. I think Haka likes the new place, he was all over the sunroom where I kept them and then he was the first to emerge when I opened the door and he followed me all over. I don’t think he got any sleep so he will be a tired kitty tomorrow. Sqeaker was not so brave and after giving himself the tour of the house he hid under the bed for the rest of the day.

Sunday took me up to Hershey to watch the Bears take on the Milwaukee Admirals. Made the first brewery stop of the year at Boneshire. What a coincidence that it was also last year’s first stop. The Bears struck first and then just kind of forgot how to shoot the puck. Milwaukee scored 3 unanswered goals in what was a blah effort from the Bears. That was no surprise since they scored 6 goals the night before so they had shot their wad then. Now due to scheduling I won’t take in another Bears game until February since they play no more Sunday games in January.

Also the beer bottle collection is just about ready for virtual view. Almost at the end of setting it up. Almost. Only about 300 more to do.
