Miller Park
When I drove out to Chicago I needed something to do on Memorial Day. I saw that the Brewers were playing a matinée against the Cardinals so I decided to drive up to Milwaukee. This was the first time I have been in Wisconsin and found Milwaukee to be similar to other cities like Pittsburgh and Cleveland. I strolled around downtown for a bit and then went out to the stadium.
How did I get there?
Drove up I-94 from Chicago. Parked in the stadium lot. There are numerous lots and it can be a bit of a hike to the park. A lot of fans were tailgating. Not sure if that is normal or if it was because of the holiday.
Ticket prices
The Brewers were good and they were playing the Cardinals on a holiday so I expected prices to be higher. I wound up sitting in the upper deck behind home plate for about $25. Not too bad.
Finding my seat and amenities
Not hard to find my seat. Most Brewers fans were outside playing cornhole and tailgaiting. They had those things set up before the car was even parked, it was amazing watching it. For about 30 minutes I had the run of the park.
In game experience
Seems to be the same old, same old outside of the famous Sausage Race. No home runs were hit so I didn’t see Bernie Brewer go down the slide. They do have their own Stretchtime song, Roll out the Barrel. This was perhaps the best game I ever saw. The Brewers won 1-0 in 10 innings and won on an error. It was played in a little over 2 hours. It was also a beautiful day so the roof was open.
Getting out
I left early for two reasons, first I had to back in Chicago for the Pirates and Cubs game. Second I wanted to listen to Bob Uecker on the radio. I left after the 8th. No problems getting out, but then most people had not left yet.
Wrap
This is a place I would like to revisit. It’s not that I like the Brewers but I want to see more of Milwaukee.
