Bethpage Ballpark

Opened: May 14, 2000

Capacity: 6,002

Long Island is a long drive, about 4 hours. With New York City traffic it can be even longer. I have been here three times, first was the Atlantic League All Star Game in 2010 with my dad and his air conditioner-less car in July, then again in 2015 to see a regular season game and more lately on my New York trip. The name of the park has changed several times over the past couple of years but this place is proof that independent ball can be successful.

How did I get there?

You have to drive here. Central Islip has a LIRR station but it is nowhere near the park. The stadium is just off of the Southern State Parkway. Parking is in the lot of the federal court house and is free.

Ticket prices

For New York it is not bad. The Ducks are a cheap way to spend an evening in the New York area. Prices were $11 to get in.

Finding my seat and amenities

Easy to find the seat. They had the usual stadium-fare and some local fare as well. I had eaten before I came both times.

In game experience

The All Star game had a different experience but I don’t really remember anything standing out from the regular season games.

Getting out

It was easy to get back to the highway from the park. Once that was where the fun was beginning. There was an accident of the Shore Parkway and then there was road construction on the Staten Island Expressway. It took probably over two hours to get back into New Jersey. The other time it was smooth sailing.

Wrap

The only reason I came up the one time was since I could see the Brooklyn Cyclones during the day. The fact that the Ducks were playing the Revolution both times was a huge bonus. Don’t know when I’ll be back the next time since I still have to make an appearance in New Britain at least.
