I found Fayetteville to be a bit confusing to get around in. Part of that was because the exit I had marked to get to the park was closed so I had to find another one. I was able to eventually make my way downtown and I had dinner at a local brewery, Lake Gaston, before the game. Found a parking spot on the street about 2 blocks from the stadium and just wound up staying there for the game. Saved me $5.
$12 got me a nice seat behind home plate. Can’t complain about that.
Easy to find the seat. Usual stadium fare. The most striking thing is that when an opponent struck out they played the Woody Woodpecker sound clip. With the number of strikeouts in today’s game I bet that clip gets played a lot.
It was a hot day in Fayetteville, 101 degrees hot. Even the locals were complaining about it. While it was not that temperature during the game it was still hot and I spent most of my time trying to stay cool. A thunderstorm came through just before gametime but hit mostly south of town though there was a little bit of rain and the groundscrew did unroll the tarp but did not put it on the field. Usual stable of in-game entertainment.
Getting out was not hard. I was staying just south of town and I just needed to get on the right road. Easy enough to do. The hardest part was getting back to the car since most of the area around the stadium is under construction.
This is a very nice park, but then it should be since it just opened. I’d like to get back and hopefully I will one day. Need to visit the museum at Fort Bragg.
