This particular park was a late addition to the yearly circuit and I’m not really sure why. It is not really all that far from me, with light traffic I can be there in less than 2 hours. I make it here at least once a year and usually show up when a bobblehead is given away.
PA Turnpike to US 1 exiting at NJ 32. One quick turn takes you to the stadium though the light there takes forever. Since I am showing up for bobblehead games I am there early which means that I beat the parking attendants. Parking is $5 and you park in the lot and garage for some government buildings next to the stadium.
These can be a bit more than normal but not that much. It is still much cheaper than seeing a game at Yankee Stadium, guess that goes without saying. The team the last few years has been good and they one of the top draws in the league.
The seats are well marked and there is also some standing room as well. As far as food goes they offer quite the variety from the normal stadium fare to much more exotic food. From local favorites like hoagies and pork roll sandwiches to Asian cuisine (can’t say I’ve seen that much elsewhere) you can find it. They also serve Stewart’s Root Beer, which is my favorite.
The usual entertainment like with the pork roll races. They do also have a dog that goes out and retrieves the players bats during the first inning.
On a well attended night this can be difficult as the light to turn onto NJ 32 is not long. One plus is that I seem to be handed a Chick-Filet card everytime I show up, so I get a free sandwich out of it. One of the jokes about New Jersey is that you have to pay to leave and that is true for the most part. There is a toll on US 1 to cross back into Pennsylvania but there is not a toll on the local bridge just to the north, which merges onto US 1 about a mile down the road. This is the bridge with the famous Trenton Makes the World Takes sign on it. I’ll sit at the three lights and save myself the money.
Trenton is not a large city but there are some attractions for me to see. The area is also starting to get into the craft brewery scene. River Horse just north of town is a nice place to visit and sample some of their wares.
