TD Bank Ballpark

Opened: June 7, 1999

Capacity: 6,100

The Somerset Patriots are the New York Yankees of the Atlantic League. They’ve won more titles than anyone and are the most successful franchise. They are proof that independent baseball can be profitable. I’ve been here twice, first for a Saturday night game in 2012 and then for a day matinĂ©e that turned into a double header in 2017. Both times they were playing the Revolution.

How did I get there?

Up I-78 to I-287. The park is just off of 287 but the exit is not.

Ticket prices

$12 got me in and sitting two rows from the field behind the visitor’s dugout.

Finding my seat and amenities

Easy to find the seats. They had the usual stadium fare. I was told that the Sparky Burger (named for then-manager Sparky Lyle) was the best thing to get. It was good but I’ve had better burgers.

In game experience

It wasn’t bad. The crowd is into the game and considering that they have two major league teams to choose from near there they have a dedicated fanbase. They have the usual in-game entertainment.

Getting out

It is easy to get out with two exits near the park. One time I went that way. The other I went toward Raritan. I wanted to get a picture of the John Basilone statue. Getting back to the interstate was easy.

Wrap

This is a nice place to watch a game. But just like with Southern Maryland I can see the same teams much closer to home so I don’t see a need to go here every year.
