This was a place that I enjoyed coming to. It was relatively easy to get to and was an enjoyable evening. The problem was that attendance dropped off. Eventually the Riversharks lease was not renewed and the stadium today sits empty and is going to be demolished. It’s a shame but was probably inevitable.
The park is right by the Ben Franklin Bridge so that is the most logical way to go but can be very busy at rush hour. Same with the Walt Whitman Bridge, but I have a few times paired a visit here with a Phillies game so that is the only way to go. Otherwise I crossed into New Jersey and took US 130 to the park. There was very little traffic and you could cut right through downtown to get to the park. Parking was $7, which is expensive and the lots are not monitored. This is Camden after all, not the nicest place in America, though I never had a problem here.
$11 got you in. Got my seats upgraded to sit right behind home plate once. That was sweet.
Easy to find my seat and given the sparse attendance there was always room to move around. They had the usual stadium fare as well, so nothing special.
Nothing really exciting here except when the Atlantic League All-Star game was here, they did go all out for that. Chris Christie showed up and the state police brought the game ball in with a helicopter.
Not too hard, had to drive about 5 blocks to get onto the Ben Franklin Bridge and then it was out I-676 and 76 toward home.
I do miss this park but then me coming to one or two games a year was not going to keep it around. There was a rumor that the Marlins would move their Batavia affiliate here but that fell through but then there was also a rumor that that team was moving to Southern Maryland as well.
