The first time I came down here I said I was never coming back. It was too far of a drive. Boy did I lie to myself. I’ve been down every year since 2012 for at least one game. I used to tie it when the Nationals would play a matinĂ©e game and then head down here. In more recent years I haven’t done this but that did work well. For about three years in a row a massive thunderstorm hit when I would come down and the game would be called early but that has also not happened in a few years.
I’ve come two ways, either down US 301 or from the Washington Beltway down MD 5. Both will have heavy traffic so there is no one real good way. Parking is free.
$11 gets you a seat just about anywhere in the park. I mostly sit behind the visitor’s dugout if the Revolution are playing here but I did sit behind the visitor’s bullpen once. I heard some great stories that day.
Easy to find my seat. They have the usual stadium fare which I am not a fan of. I usually grab a bite elsewhere. Any fast food restaurant that you could want is in Waldorf.
The on-field host Tye Dye Guy is a hoot. Compared to other hosts that I tolerate I like him. He also goes around and greets everyone who comes out. They have the usual between inning entertainment.
This has confused me more than a few times. I turn right coming out instead of turning left to get back to Billingley Road. Once I made a note of that it has been fine.
This is a nice park but once a year is usually enough for me. I can see the same teams in York and Lancaster so it’s not like I’m seeing anything new.
