This is the first and to date the only time I have been in the state of Alabama. It was a hot day when I visited in 2016 in late July (no kidding right?). My car said it was 103 degrees out and being the deep south this was a special kind of heat that my Yankee butt was having a hard time handling. But I was looking for a game on a Sunday and it was either this or watch the Braves and Phillies, so I went with this.
It was an easy drive down I-59 from Chattanooga and the stadium is just off of I-65. When you walk up to it there is no doubt where you are. Parking seemed limited but I found a nice spot on the street for free. A brewery, Good People is right next door and the beer was cold on a hot day.
Not bad, $10 got me in.
Easy to find my seat. I wound up standing most of the game so I could go to the water fountain, which was ice cold! As far as food they had the normal stadium fare but out in center field they had quite the variety of foods.
Seemed like the standard entertainment. The crowd was sparse for this game. They usually play 3:00 games on Sundays but for whatever reason this was bumped to 6:00. I did not stay for the whole game since I had a two hour drive back to Chattanooga and the time zone change to deal with. I wanted to try to get a good night’s sleep that night and be well rested to get back on the road early the next morning.
Easy to get out. A few turns and I was on the Interstate heading out.
This might be the best AA park I have visited. And they have a big poster of Michael Jordan, who played for them during his hiatus from basketball.
