The World Needs More Kevin

This Week in Kevin

Somewhat of a boring week this week. It got started on the wrong foot since I cut grass on Monday and the mower would not start and when it did it sounded like it needed to be taken out back and shot. It’s been a good mower, I’ve had it for 4-5 years and a new one was going to be in the works for next year anyway but I hoped that it would have made it through the rest of the year. Fortunately Lowes still had lawn mowers on sale so I have a nice and new one. Real easy to push too. There might be one more grass cutting in November and there will be a de-leafing in December to do so I couldn’t just leave it go.

For the most part the rest of the week was normal. Basketball season will be starting next week with scrimmages so there won’t be too many more completely dull weeks. I am getting a lot of quality time in with my furry little buddies, so much so I think I am tiring them out as they are sleeping all evening now. They have been spending a lot more time downstairs, I guess its warmer down there since I turned the heat back on. It’s been getting cold at night. Haven’t seen a killer frost yet but it’s coming. I saw on the Farmer’s Almanac snow could be in the forecast for November, which I take with a grain of salt.

Work has been a bit slow this week. Worked from home since I had some other things to do and the cats were extremely cuddly. It’s why I can’t normally work from home. They take turns needing attention and Squeaker insists on laying on me.  They also spend a lot of time chasing each other and pawing at each other. Just like little kids. Anyway, it just isn’t worth it to drive in, drive back and then drive in again before driving back.

Made my way over to Gettysburg on Saturday to hike the battlefield and take in the fall foliage in what has become an annual tradition. Got some nice pics. Two years ago I did the Horse Trail, last year I did the first day’s field. This year I did Cemetery Ridge down to the Round Tops and Devil’s Den. Here’s a fun fact: Devil’s Den is not actually the rock formation, it is a hole at the base of it. Was hoping for at least some sun but it was not to be found.

On the way back I stopped in Hanover at Miscreation and Something Wicked for a post hike beer. Hanover has another new brewery too, Sign of the Horse. Does Hanover really need 5 breweries? Well, apparently they’re getting a sixth sometime in the near future so I guess so. Wouldn’t have known about Sign of the Horse but I saw a sign for it the last time I was in Hanover to visit Warehouse and Aldus. I’m running out of local breweries to check into on Untappd. I’ll need to head down to Baltimore pretty soon to add to the Find The Source badge. Got home in time to watch the encore of New Zealand/England in the Rugby World Cup. I am a bit unhappy that I will miss South Africa/Wales tomorrow since I’ll be at the Halloween Parade. Hopefully I can find a replay of it somewhere.

Sunday was the Halloween Parade. Had a pre-parade beer at Gift Horse and then took in the parade. Post-parade beer at Collusion. Turned into a gorgeous day after a wet morning. There were some pretty good downpours so I was just happy that it was sunny but it was warm too. It seems like the parade gets shorter every year and the York High band gets smaller.
