The World Needs More Kevin

This Week in Kevin

And now a week where very little goes on. A normal week, work during the day and sitting at home watching TV or reading at night. Since my cold is about done I can start getting back to the pile of beer I accumulated this summer. At the rate I’m going I’ll be through it by Thanksgiving. It’s still quite a pile…So not much going on this week which makes for a very boring This Week In Kevin.

I’m actually quite enjoying this sitting around and doing nothing at night. I think it’ll save me quite a bit of money come next baseball season. It helps that I also got 6 new channels on my antenna. All kinds of good stuff there. Not really, it’s all programming from a decade ago but some of it is new to me. OK, one channel just says new channel and lists the new ones. Another just displays nice scenery and an occasional Bible verse. I guess that’s better than PTV from Family Guy with the Side Boob Hour.

Turned the heat back on on Thursday. House was getting a bit chilly in the morning and I’ve noticed that the cats have started sleeping downstairs. You do get used to the lil guys sleeping on the bed with you. Hopefully they will be back soon. That of course has not stopped them from waking me up before the sunrises because they are hungry. So mark it, the heat is back on on October 17 in 2019.

Made a trip downtown on Saturday. Not my planned trip to visit all 6 breweries in one day, I’ll do that in November but I needed to get out of the house. Hit Crystal Ball and Old Forge since they are right around the corner from each other and stopped at Collusion since it was on the way back. Haven’t been in at Crystal Ball yet this year, what an oversight on my part. So there’s 4, only Mudhook and Liquid Hero left so I think I’m ready for my yearly 6 in a day.

One hockey game this week. Went up to Reading to take in some hot ECHL action as the Royals took on the Maine Mariners. Pregame stops at Schaylor and Oatbrook brewing. The Mariners are affiliated with the Rangers but seem to have a lot of Flyers’ links, like being owned by the same organization as them and having a lot of Flyers big wigs running the team. The Mariners do have a couple of PA-born players including one from Hummelstown so one would expect there might be some local interest in this game.

Lot of new faces for Reading but then I didn’t see them much last year so what do I know. They do also have former Hershey Bear captain Garrett Mitchell. Boy, that’s a heck of a fall there. The season has not started the way the Royals would have liked but they now get to play some games at home after a trip to Newfoundland. Reading got off to a great start with Trevor Yates and Ralph Cuddemi netting goals in the first 7 minutes. Eric Knodel added another in the 2nd to put Reading up 3-0. Then things went wrong. Maine scored three times in the 2nd period. Reading went back up in the 3rd with Cuddemi netting his second of the game but the lead was short lived, 15 seconds worth before Maine’s Dillan Fox netted the equalizer. Reading had the last laugh though when Frank DiChara put in the winner. Reading wins 5-4. Entertaining game to watch, that’s for sure.
