How did I get there?

Made the short drive in from Greensboro for a morning game on my Carolinas trip. Came in on MLK Drive and navigated to the park. There were a few signs to help you navigate but I didn’t see any when I got to downtown. I arrived early since I heard that the parking situation was a problem and I found a spot on the street just outside of the park for free. Can’t complain about that. Now the team is new so all of the kinks had not been worked out by then and since this was the first time I had ever been in High Point I didn’t want to take any chances.

Ticket prices

$12 got me a seat just down from the dugout. My problem here was that the box office did not open until 9:30 for a 10:30 game with the main gate not opening until 10. Not really a problem because there were not a lot of people at the game and it was a morning game so things can operate a bit differently for those. I would have shown up a bit later or just walked around downtown rather than sitting outside of the stadium waiting.

Finding my seat and amenities

At first I sat in the wrong section, didn’t read the signs at the top of the sections and in this case my seat was actually better so I moved up. I don’t think it would have mattered, not a lot of people were there. Got a BBQ nacho and souvenir soda, which could be refilled for $2. The BBQ nachos were excellent, one of my favorite ballpark snacks. My biggest problem was that there were no programs. They had a program from the inaugural game and just had them out so I grabbed one of those.

In game experience

Not quite the usual entertainment. The mascot makes the rounds of the park. There’s not a lot of seats so it’s not hard. I don’t know if it was because this was a morning game with school kids or if it is normal but the in game breaks had kids answering trivia questions about all kinds of things. At least the kids did seem kind of smart.

Getting out

This game was over around 1 PM so I didn’t have to deal with rush hour or anything. It took a few turns to get back to the highway. Didn’t see much signage but I had the map up on my phone so I cheated. I did see the world’s largest chest of drawers though. So there’s that.

Wrap

I saw my hometown Revolution play here and that may be the only thing that gets me back. Part of that is that I can see Atlantic League teams play many places closer than High Point so I don’t know if this will be a one-and-done or not. I also found the park to be more on point with Can-Am or Frontier League parks than Atlantic League, but we’ll see if this works out here. This is the only team in the league that is not close to a Major League market and while the local Minor League teams draw well they are rarely at the top of the attendance leaders in their respective leagues.
