On occasion I need a week like this. Not much to do so all I have is work and one sporting event or so I thought at the beginning of the week. Of course the big national event of the week was the midterm elections. I voted as always, and not for the people that some of you wanted me to. That’s all I am saying about that.
Visited Gift Horse brewing on Monday for my usual visits and I had 3 new brews to try. Ugly weather though but that will happen and I got a bit wet walking over and back. I liked the Giddyup Cup and the Key Lime Ale. The peach beer was good too but I liked the other two better.
On Thursday I once again had to watch my niece so rather than just sitting around we went over to York College to watch their game with Dickinson. York had a huge comeback to win up in Carlisle last year n what was not a well played game at all but they pulled it out. Different team for both schools this year since Dickinson graduated their top scorer. The Red Devils did not score a point until 8:30 were gone in the game. By then York had a comfortable lead but Dickinson chipped away. With 3 of York’s starters sitting on the bench with 4 fouls in the second half Dickinson cut the lead to one twice but York responded both times and built the lead back up. York won 72-59.
So, what to do on a weekend? During the morning I moved another load of stuff to the new place. The beer bottle collection has now been completely moved except for the incomplete cases I have in my basement that I use to store the new bottles. Spent a good bit of time moving stuff upstairs so I got my exercise in. You don’t realize quite how big the collection is until you look at it in boxes. I could have gone over to watch the York College women take on Johns Hopkins but with Juniata coming to town in early December I’ll get my fill of women’s basketball out of the way then. Oh, and make sure of course that you pronounce it Johns!
Sunday took me back to York College to watch the men take on #15 Johns Hopkins. An entertaining game to be sure in a back and forth game. Neither team was able to get more than a 4 point lead on the other but in the end it was Jared Wagner’s 3 ball as the shot clock expired and a little over a minute to go that put York up for good. It was his game, scoring over 30 points. At least one person named Wagner did well in something related to a Wolf. Did that work? York wins 78-72.
The baseball season is being completed with the awards announcements. Cory Dickerson won a Gold Glove for my Bucs, Yay! The big ones come next week and I would doubt any Pirate will sniff a chance of one of them.
